I have had the incredible opportunity to work with a group of women early in recovery who are just starting their incredible journey. There’s nothing more special than watching people start to get recovery, see their lives turn around, and gain back some self-respect. It is not only a privilege, it keeps me sober, centered and grateful to continue to be in the program, engaged and plugged in. There was a time where I wasn’t. I lost that desire and inspiration to help other drunks, and now I have rediscovered it with a whole new attitude of gratitude about what AA can do for people.
Ultimately, as it was in AA’s early days, it is still true now. We are just drunks helping other drunks stay sober, one wonderful day at a time.
